6 Day Trips – Less Than 1 Hour Away

There are plenty of fantastic places to visit on the doorstep of the campsite, but if you are looking to head further afield we have included six destinations you can drive to in under an hour.

Trough of Bowland

A valley and high pass which takes you through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that leads you from Lancaster to Clitheroe. This route is great for a scenic summer road trip, and we recommend starting the journey by visiting Jubilee Tower for fantastic views of the local area. On a clear day you can look out to Lancaster and Morecambe Bay, the Furness Peninsula and Southern Lakes Fells and may even see Blackpool Tower!

The Lake District

Take a trip up the M6 and head into The Lake District. From the campsite to Windermere takes approximately 40 minutes, where you can enjoy a walk around the lake, visit the local shops and restaurants or find your own adventure.

Blackpool

To the south of the camp site you can reach the resort town of Blackpool in around 40 minutes with attractions including the promenade, Blackpool Tower, Pleasure Beach and the zoo.

Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales offer some wonderful views and places to visit, such as Ingleton Waterfall Trails (around 35 minutes away from the campsite) or White Scar Cave. There are also plenty of places to walk for all abilities; whether it is a walk around Ribblehead Viaduct or a hike up a mountain like Ingleborough.

Train Journeys Around The Coast

If you would prefer to take a break from the roads you can use the Park and Ride at Junction 34 of the M6. This service allows you to park your car for a small charge and take a bus into Lancaster, including the train station. From the train station you have plenty of options for new destinations – including a journey over to Arnside and Silverdale and across the South Cumbria coast towards Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness.

Garstang and Wyre

Just south of the campsite you can explore Garstang and other parts of Wyre such as Fleetwood, Cleveleys and Poulton-le-Fylde.

Garstang includes golfing, walks along the Lancaster Canal and exploring the history of the area itself – such as Winmarleigh Hall and St Luke’s Church.
